IV Iron Infusions at StoneTree Clinic
Iron plays a key role in energy production, oxygen transport, and brain function. When levels are low, it can significantly impact how you feel day to day. We provide IV iron infusions for patients struggling with iron deficiency that do not respond well to oral supplementation or other interventions.
IV iron therapy delivers iron directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This allows for faster absorption and improved replenishment of iron stores compared to oral supplements. This treatment may be appropriate for those experiencing:
- Ongoing fatigue that does not improve with rest
- Low ferritin or diagnosed iron deficiency
- Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
- Shortness of breath with mild activity
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Pale skin or brittle nails
- Hair thinning linked to low iron
- Postpartum anemia
- Fatigue from iron deficiency treatment that has not responded to oral iron
📍 We proudly serve patients in the Southern Georgian Bay area, including Collingwood, The Blue Mountains, Wasaga Beach, Stayner, Thornbury, Meaford, and surrounding communities.

What to Expect at StoneTree Clinic
Although your experience at StoneTree will begin with support from one of our NDs, our IV Iron Infusions are prescribed by our Nurse Practitioner. Here’s what you can expect from your visit:
- Initial Assessment – We review your symptoms, medical history, and recent bloodwork to determine whether IV iron infusion is appropriate.
- Treatment Planning – If suitable, you will be referred to our Nurse Practitioner. She will review your case and confirm that IV iron is right for you. She will prescribe the appropriate dose, explain the process and expected outcomes, and get you booked in for your infusion.
- IV Iron Infusion – This 90-120 min treatment is done in our comfortable IV suite, where you can relax during the infusion. The process is monitored for your safety and comfort.
- Follow-Up Support – You will be given a requisition to get follow up testing done 6-8 weeks after your infusion. Post treatment, we continue to offer supportive care to address the underlying cause of iron deficiency and prevent recurrence.
While results vary, many patients notice improvements in energy and cognitive function within weeks following treatment, as well as:
- Improved energy levels and reduced fatigue
- Better mental clarity and reduced brain fog iron deficiency symptoms
- Support for healthy red blood cell production
- Improved exercise tolerance and stamina
- Faster restoration of ferritin levels
Frequently Asked Questions
What are IV iron infusions?
IV iron infusions deliver iron directly into the bloodstream to quickly replenish iron stores in people with iron deficiency or anemia.
How do I know if I need an iron infusion?
You may need IV iron therapy if bloodwork shows low ferritin or iron deficiency anemia and oral supplements have not improved symptoms.
How long does an IV iron infusion take?
Most treatments take between 30–60 minutes, depending on the type of iron used and your individual needs.
Is IV iron therapy safe?
When administered in a clinical setting and appropriately prescribed, IV iron therapy is generally well tolerated. We review your health history carefully before treatment.
How soon will I feel better after iron infusion?
Some patients notice improvement within 1–2 weeks, while others may take longer depending on severity and underlying causes.
Can IV iron help with fatigue and brain fog?
Yes. If these symptoms are related to iron deficiency, improving iron levels can reduce fatigue and improve cognitive clarity.
Do I need a referral for IV iron infusions?
This depends on your medical history and lab results. We assess eligibility during your initial consultation.
Can iron deficiency come back after treatment?
Yes. That’s why we also focus on identifying the underlying cause of low iron to support long-term stability.
