Charlotte Hammill, RP — Collingwood Psychotherapist

Charlotte has worked in the social and community services field for over 12 years. Her love for connecting with others and curiosity about her own mental health led her to pursue a career as a psychotherapist. She completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Western University in London, ON. and her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at the University of Ottawa.

Charlotte’s therapeutic practice integrates several evidence based theories that aim to understand and heal using a holistic lens that equally emphasize the importance of the physical self (i.e., sleep, nutrition, exercise, sex, hormones), emotional self, and the spiritual self (i.e., sense of connectedness).

She was first trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which is an evidence-based intervention that aims to increase our understanding of how thoughts, behaviours, and emotions work together to influence mental health. She also relies heavily on somatic and attachment therapies that consider the physical body and our family of origin to be key sources of information for understanding and healing our boundaries, emotional reactions, traumas, and relationship patterns.

In session, Charlotte provides a warm and genuine environment that is open to where your natural intuition guides you to heal. This could be a structured and skill based approach (e.g., weekly goals, homework, 6-16 targeted sessions for a specific concern) or a more flexible and organic session that follows instinctual desire for deepening self-awareness and healing parts of ourselves that may require a more patient and tender touch. Charlotte builds trusting and non-judgmental relationships with clients and uses this caring relationship as the foundation for healing. Humour is part of her natural communication style and is incorporated into her approach as a way connect.

Charlotte works with teens 14+, adults 18-65, and seniors 65+ that are struggling with ADHD, anger, anxiety, aging, boundaries, burnout, chronic illness, childhood trauma, depression, death processes (e.g., MAiD, planning dying process), eating challenges and body image concerns, emotion regulation, family conflict and dysfunction, friendships, grief, health anxiety, life transitions (e.g., going to university, retiring), menopause, obsessive compulsive behaviours, neurodivergence and autism, post-traumatic stress symptoms, self-confidence and self-esteem, sexuality and gender identity, romantic relationships, social anxiety, stress, substance use, and work place conflict. Charlotte also works with family dyads (e.g., parent-child, sibling) to resolve conflicts and support development of healthy relationships and communication.
