Gervais Harry, M.D. is a registered, licensed physician and a member of the American Academy of Antiaging Medicine.
Dr. Harry brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has been a practicing physician for over four decades, with training in Family Practice, Obstetrics Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Nephrology, General Surgery, and Urology. He was a Urological surgeon for 25 years and has worked in family practice for 15 years. We’re very fortunate to have him with us!
Dr. Harry’s true passion, however, is Bioidentical Hormone Restoration Therapy.
Sometimes peri- and post-menopausal hormonal situations need more than lifestyle changes. And while many women have pursued conventional hormone replacement therapies like Premarin, many more are scared off by the side effects and possible cancer link.
That’s where bioidentical hormone replacement comes (BHRT) comes in.
BHRT is about restoring normal hormone balance using hormones that are identical in their molecular structure to the ones in your body, allowing for lower dosages and fewer side effects.
Dr. Harry is a Toronto-trained Urologist [FRCS Canada, Urology] with exceptionally broad experience, including Family Practice, Obs Gyn, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Nephrology, General Surgery, Urology and Bioidentical Hormone Restoration Therapy.
He received his medical degree from London University [England], after studying at the University College of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. Subsequently, he completed a five-year residency in Urology at the University of Toronto [research prize winner, 1972].
Dr. Harry’s post-doctorate training included internships in Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, General Medicine, then apprenticeship to an Edinburgh-trained general surgeon, one year in sole charge of a 70-bed country hospital. Following that, he returned to residency at the U. Hospital of the West Indies, acquiring experience in Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery and Emergency Medicine in Jamaica.
His experience includes two years as sole Urologist in Montego Bay [population 600,000], 20 years of Urological surgery in Toronto, at the Doctors’, Central, Wellesley, Toronto Western and Toronto General Hospitals, followed by two and a half years as chief of Urology in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
In 2000, Dr. Harry retired from Urology, in favour of Holistic family practice in Etobicoke: soon, he became aware of the need for Hormone Restoration Therapy and began to apply its principles to general Family Care.
In 2012, he became a member of the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine [A4M] and in 2014, discontinued family practice to specialize in Bio-identical Hormone Restoration Therapy [BHRT].
Following completion of the A4M’s study course, he successfully wrote their written examination and passed the Oral examination. He achieved specialist certification by the A4M in 2016.
Dr. Harry has been practicing Complementary Medicine, with an accent on Bioidentical Hormone Restoration, in Collingwood since November 2014 and joins StoneTree Naturopathic Clinic in January, 2017.
Dr. Harry no longer does surgery or active management of Urological problems, but he is available for Urologic consultation: he will evaluate your history and test results, to verify the necessity for referral to an active Urologist or to give a second opinion if there are questions or doubts regarding proposed management.
He will provide a written opinion to the patient, the Naturopath, the Urologist or the Family Physician, on request.
